this is probably not the right place for this thread but to me it's "news"

last thursday i sustained a back injury while working, i went to see my family dr. (who is the greatest i might add) and he prescribed me tramadol for pain, robaxin for muscle relaxer, and Mobic which i believe is an anti-inflamatory drug, i weighed 205lbs same as the past 4 or 5 years, well, i started takin my medication and expected to be back up and moving in a couple days, i did nothing over the weekend other than attent church on Sunday morning, i was feelin horrible, my legs and arms felt like they weighed a ton, my skin looked like i had a severe sunburn and was itching like crazy, my feet, ankles, and hands were swelling, i went back to the doc's on Monday and weighed 217lbs, the mobic had caused an allergic reaction which had caused me to retain 12lbs of water weight plus the other symptoms, i was given a steroid shot and prescription plus a water pill and slowly i'm feeling better but i still don't think i'll work this week, (i'm self employed) i've heard several similiar stories from friends and family concerning Mobic so please use caution if you are prescribed this drug.

Oh really....when did you hear a doctor tell you that these horrific side effects were OK? Most of them will tell you to stop taking the medication. They also tell you up front, or should, what you can expect when you take this medication. Like has been said here already, these medications have different effects on different people. I have seen children take cough medicine and sleep for hours, while the same drug will make another child climb the walls.
YOU are the only one who can tell the doctor if a medication is working for you. Almost every medication produced has a list a mile long of potential side effects that have been reported in patients. Don;t beleive me....go the local library and pick up a copy of the PDR (Prescription Drug Compendium) and read thru a few of the medications.
The responsible thing to do if you start having a reaction is to stop taking the medication and call the physician. They should be able to tell you if it is the medication or something else. I don't know any doctor that wants you taking a medicine for his or her own benefit.
BTW....patriot, I am glad you are feeling better.... Big Grin
