The legislation to amend the Constitution with a Balanced Budget Amendment has to pass both Houses of Congress with a 2/3 majority. The House vote didnt. The Balanced Budget Amendment is done. Oh, well, seemed like a good idea at the time. Maybe next year.

The original legislation required that the BBA pass both houses and go to the states before any debt ceiling increases. The new legislation simple requires a vote in both houses. Reid wouldn't allow a vote in the Senate. After the votes, the Republicans will have their list of who vated against it and for it. Initial mission accomplished. Next stage, present the list to the votes and let them decide who to keep.
Sen. **** Durbin, leftwinger from Illinois, stated debt deal was “the final interment of John Maynard Keynes.” Hipefully so. However, we shall keep the wooden stakes, holy water and silver bullets nearby.

Doesnt matter now.
There is no way a clean BBA bill will make it through the House or Senate. Its dead.
This term, NO! Next term, we shall see. We are about two states away from the resolution requiring a constitutional convention by the states --REQUIRING IT.
