Careful pup, I've got relatives in Petersvile.

You know that where you go in any area will show rednecks of all kinds. Maybe Northern rednecks get better hand me downs.

I have seen far fewer of those people over the years than I used to.

Of course, if you drive through a trailer park, all bets are off. Razzer
Yeah, b50m. There's trash everywhere. Just seems like it's the norm here. There's a difference between a hard-working "redneck" and somebody who obviously doesn't give a s#%t.

And it's obvious to anybody who pays attention.
*sigh*
I'm not picking on Petersville in particular, dammit. I just happen to live there, so I see this stuff and these haggard folk and/or these obese, pork-snufflin' hill scoggins with their green teeth and crud and their garbage all over the front yards and the spongebob bedsheets hanging in the front windows.

I see them come thundering into Country Boys on "all you can eat" catfish night.. Or Jack's... Or McDonalds.... See, I thought that gluttony was one of the "seven deadly sins..."

I've had my central heating unit swiped. Now I heat with kerosene space heaters. (I've buried my own versions of the famous Claymore antipersonnel mines around to keep my motorcycles from getting stolen... with the appropriate warning signs posted), 'cause apparently that "Thou shalt not steal" commandment went out the window sometime in the last 3 decades.

I sit on my front porch on weekends sometimes watching the vehicles fly down my road-sometimes ending up in my ditch because ol' Gomer isn't looking where he's going. Sometimes they end up in my neighbor's yard upside-down depending upon which point the driver happens to notice that things are rapidly going to hell and decides to apply the brakes/swerve/crash anyway. I keep my dogs fenced in so they don't end up like that poor lil' fella I saw squished in the middle of the road yesterday.

I'd hate to think how many of those kinda people you saw say, 20 years ago...If what I'm seeing now is so common here.

It is what it is. It's real, and it's right here.

To anybody who doesn't believe it, some friendly advice.

Gitcha nose out da phone-pay attention to where ya are and what's going on and you'll see this stuff. I've only been here a little over a year and I've seen enough. Soon as I can figure out how to save up moving expenses and still be able to survive while I'm here-Color me gone.

one can see the horde in line without being part of hte line.

i see the line in drive thru from the highway.
i don't need to get in it to notice the gluttons.
I will agree with some of what you said Puppy. I don't think you mean all of us though. There are slobs everywhere, not just the south. I would like to think the good outweighs the bad here. I love the south and am proud to be an Alabamaian. The overall attitude of the people the natural beauty the Tennessee River driving down a country road and being waved at by total strangers, you know the simple things. Don't give up on us yet Pup.
b50m: White's Lake area.
The sideshow is usually up and down Cloverdale Rd. That and parts of Florence city proper.

Jennifer: Like nagel says- Ya don't have to get in line to see the line. I'm a tight, trim 165 lbs and I eat only when I need to.

Ya wanna see thr hill-scoggins I'm talkin' about? Go bac and read my previous post. C'mon down! It's twenty after nine AM and the show's already started! Iwas just driving by Country Boys and witnessed another wide-glide prying herself out of a full-sized sedan. Jowls down to her collar-six chins and back fat so severe she looked like she had a backpack under her shirt.

Leo: Yeah you right. wasn't lumping all southerners together here. There are a lot of nice folks that don't eat for a living around here, and it IS a beautiful place. These are a couple of the reasons I moved back down here when I lost my home up north.
Trouble is I was lied to about the hours I'd be working and now I'm stranded. Too poor to leave to where the job I do pays better and apparently too rich for food stamps...All the while I got hypocrites asking me what church do I attend and when I say "none" they all want me to come to theirs so I can be saved.

Saved from WHAT? LOL...Not being bukakke'd with STUPID on a weekly basis?

I just don't think I'm gonna find that in church, nosir. Church....what a joke, it seems...What good are the Ten Commandments if they only are supposed to apply to "other people?"

And buffy: What can I say-other than "bite me."
That's right.....Down on all fours and MUNCH AWAY.....

S'too bad. This is a nice place even if the economy blows.

When asked about church, inquire when tha' next "social" is. Then! You roll in 'bout time Amen is said for tha' meal. Grub out...and they always let ya' have a "To Go" plate. Then split. Dayum good food at most of'em. We got so good we could actually ride around an' spot 'em. Drop in like we was "home folks".

Yeah, Cagey. I hear ya. 'Least yez upfront about it. Wink

Ten-four onnat Purina Rabbi Chow. never could get used to Matzoh.

Buffy, I dunno, I can't seem to get straight directions outta anybody down here-most folks from here tell me Country Boys is in Petersville-and I'm north of that, but the sign down the road a ways says Underwood and then the sign on the community center aways over says "Underwood-Petersville Community Center" so 'bout this point I just figure wherever I am, There I is.
