Check out this link and stroll down memory lane! My cousin sent this to me and it sure brought back some great childhood memories. I came into this world in the middle of the 1960's but I'm sure some on this forum were older during that time and will probably get a lot more out of it. Looking forward to your comments. Turn up the volume and enjoy!

Thanks that was great,I remeber most of those years.

I after seeing the elections results tonight I'm afraid we all need memories of when America was great. Get ready for chaos and 3rd world status, 1967 was only the beginning of the end for the USA.

I think you just hit the nail on the head!!! I agree with every word!!

Whewwwww, wasn't it though???

It was a time where kids respected parents, teachers and most of all, POLICE OFFICERS!!! That is one memory that really sticks with me due to the happenings of today's times.
i LOVED the 60's, my teenage years...doncha know i'm the hippiegirl Cool

Remembering...
schools requiring 'dresses'
(BHS required girls' dress-hems touch the floor when we kneeled in the commons every morning.
BHS required boys' hair not touch their ears, or Principal Joe Brewer took you straight to the barber shop.)
'yes maam, no maam'
never locking houses or cars
doors left open on summer nights
1 bathroom per household
hippie clothes (back in style!)
Beatles 4 ever!
dogs free to run with the kids
bicycles with front baskets
comic book swaps
45rpm records/hi-fi stereos
blue-denim notebooks
Sunday "Blue Law"
cordovan loafers with shiny pennies
Jesus 'water-walkers'(loafers cut out like sandals)
Twiggy
'surfer girl' look
tent dresses
mary jane shoes
sandal laces tied up to the knees

ah, those were the days..sigh. Cool

on the down side, i remember my friends dying in viet nam..RIP Alfred and David.

I remember my first experience with electricity. My dad told me that no matter what I do, don't touch that wire. Well, what do you think I had to do? (three years old)

You mean your Dad didn't tell you what MY Dad told my brother?????

To not pee on the electric fence. Yep, you are right, my brother didn't listen. Funny thing is though, it only took ONE TIME for him to learn, lol.

Gosh, I will NEVER forget that!!! LOL
Well, Kindred, I had an encounter with an electric fence when I was younger, although not quite as spectacular as your brother's was, I'm sure.

My daddy had a pair of bird dogs (Britney Spaniels) who lived in a chain link dog run in our back yard. These two little girlies were very adept at climbing that fence and did it quite often until Daddy installed an electric wire around the top of the pen. And you'd know when they tried to climb out because you'd hear this high pitched yelp and look out there to see one or the other running around in a circle pawing at her nose!

Well, guess who's job it was on Saturday mornings to feed the dogs? Mine. Seeing as how I've NEVER been a morning person, I wasn't exactly firing on all cylinders that cold December morning when Mother sent me out with two dog bowls in my hands. Now, don't ask me what I was thinkin', cause I'm sure I wasn't, when I opened up the gate and FORGOT to duck! I caught that electric wire square across my forehead, dropped both dog bowls and screeched at the top of my lungs. Took me a full 10 seconds to realize what had even happended! By the time I picked up the mess, fed the dogs and made it back inside the house, my mother was still rolling around on the floor, practically wetting herself, laughing at me. Not one of my prouder moments from childhood, to say the least! Big Grin

i thought my foster son was the only one dumb enough to try that...
Hey, Thanks for that. I really enjoyed that. I was a teenager in the sixties, the end of the sixties actually. But I remember all of that stuff. It's good when you can go back and see and look and listen to all the good times.

I wish our world today were a little more like it was in the sixties. But, we can't cry over spilled milk.

Thanks again. I loved it.

I do too, Donna!!! The people were just so REAL back then.

Things were REAL. Politicians weren't as devious.

Kids respected parents, teachers and Law Enforcement!!!

We may not have had the technology we have now, but we had it ALL, ya know?

we had more human-to-human interaction...
the more we move away from identifying with one another as people the more identity theft we seem to have Confused

You said it best, my friend!!!

Yep, that is what we had, and there was SO much family interaction too, every single day!!!

Wow, things sure have changed!!!
