In these stories? Both are about kids left to fend for themselves, yet they have a different outcome. Two weeks vs four months.

Cops: Mom left 5 kids with no electricity, little food

A Kissimmee woman was arrested last week after one of her five children called police and said they had little food, no electricity and no hot water, police said.

Natalie Gray, 35, was charged with five counts of child neglect without great bodily harm on Jan. 16.

Gray's oldest child, whom Kissimmee police spokeswoman Stacie Miller described only as an older teenage girl, told police Gray had not spent the night in the home since Jan. 10, police said.

Twins left alone while parents leave the country

Being left home alone may be a fun fantasy for some kids growing up, but for twin New Hampshire 9-year-olds, it was real life and far from fun. The Associated Press is reporting two boys were left to care for themselves for four months while their parents went to Nigeria with their three other children. Manchester police learned they were supposed to be cared for by their 25-year-old uncle, Giobari Atura, but he only stopped by on occasion to drop off food.
