Shoals Resident, I'm sorry if it offends you to hear the truth about how we all view Bill. He has EARNED it. And while I am willing to listen to anyone's ideas, I have heard enough from Bill to know that he is here only to sow discontent, to mislead others and to drive people AWAY from Christ. If you read eveything he has posted, even over the past week, you will have to admit that Bill is as far from acting like a Christian as a person can get.

Yes, I am giving Bill a hard time, but it is because his preaching dangerous and misleading. You will notice that Bill is the ONLY one on this board that people argue with. There is a reason for that!

Not naming names, here, but some people just have it coming.

Wow! Deep,

I can hardly believe what I am reading! You, a devout atheist agreeing with people who "wear the Christian hat"!

Could it be that YOU have more in common with them -- than I do? I will have to allow them to answer that.

However, to respond to the friendly applause I have drawn in this discussion -- take a look at the new discussion I have posted titled "Are New Age, Wicca, And Christianity Compatible?"

I was told that I am not welcome in this discussion -- but, you can bet that some will complain because I have left and started a new discussion. Does anyone ever begin to feel that some folks just cannot be satisfied?

Y'all come back now, ya heah?

Bill

Another way I like to share the Word is through music. I've been blessed with the ability to play several instruments, and when I am performing, I will usually slip in a few songs thanking Him for all He has given us. And what is really great is, those songs usually get the most applause.

Now, I don't know for certain that any of these songs have "turned on the lightbulb" for anyone in the audience, but they are songs that will point out to anyone listening that we all have a lot to be thankful for. Maybe someone listening has thought about it and decided that they too, should be thankning God.

How Christian is it to be sooooo viscious toward Bill? You accuse him of the very thing that you are doing. Can you not agree to disagree and be civil toward one another? If I were not a Christian and were reading these posts I don't think I would want any part of Christianity if this were the example I was seeing. If you disagree with your boss (or others) are you this hateful when you voice your disagreement? I'm not asking for you to agree but there needs to be a higher ground when you exchange posts with Bill or anyone else.

If you are referring to me, SR, I must explain that I have been playing defense for quite some time.
I do feel guilty at the anger that Bill can provoke of me: It is not pleasant, to be sure.
However, if you pay attention to what he writes, he belittles, mocks and spews intolerance to anyone who disagrees with him.
SR, religion is something that wars have started- so yes, it is going to get heated. But I have never seen an instance on where anyone has been "hateful" to Bill.
Do some people think that he is being used by the other team? YES! He (in my opinion) is encouraging religious practices that put people's salvation at risk. So, yes, he will be called out on that.
SR, please understand that civility has been exhausted in some of these conversations, and Mr. Gray can be extremely sarcastic/condescending.
He makes people mad- and when you mix anger and religion, well....you know what happens.

I'll take "Why we are here" as a question.

The question is begged in a couple different ways. First, it implies that we are entitled to a meaningful existence. Second, that entitlement implies that the meaning in our life comes from an external source.

In reverse order, let me respond. There has never been demonstrated to the satisfaction of all honest observers any external source that could dictate meaning to our lives. Meaning in the intellectual sense, not the biological sense.

By what measure does one assume that we are entitled to meaning, except that meaning we create for ourselves? If you say god gives us meaning, and that meaning is to glorify him constantly, that's not only an insult to god, but rather circular.

Meaning is what we make of it. Perhaps it's raising children, or planting trees that will outlive us. It could be a commanding knowledge of a guitar or particle physics. It could be a quest for the impossible, like the perfect game of golf, or the Grand Unified Theory of Everything.

That's enough. Personal meaning, along with a good and kind life, is plenty. No god is required, thank god, because he does not exist.

I believe it was Ayn Rand who said that one either chooses a philosophy by which to live one's life, or otherwise one's life exhibits his philosophy.

Nothing wrong with any of that. Believing in God doesn't prevent any of it either.

Neither is believing in God necessary for them.

Hi all,

For once, I agree with Deep. No, please, no one should faint from shock. However, Deep is correct that belief in God is not necessary for all the things he listed. Man can have many material things; man can have much material wealth; man can have a large, happy family; man can have the greatest education -- all without God. Yes, that is true.

However, there is one thing a man CANNOT HAVE without God. That is eternal life in the presence of God. And, what is the alternative to eternal life in the presence of God? Well, there is only one place a person can go if not into the presence of God -- and that is into eternal life in the presence of Satan -- in hell.

Two choices -- heaven or hell.

Man MUST choose! To not choose is to choose -- and the default choice is hell.

Deep, my Friend, choose wisely while you still have time. Right now, your eternal future looks pretty grim.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill
