Several protesters in zombie makeup injected themselves into a Special Olympics ceremony in Wisconsin this week when they walked in front of Gov. Scott Walker and stood between him and the group of the Special Olympic Athletes he was paying tribute to in front of the state Capitol.

The silent protest immediately brought to mind the ongoing fight over union rights that led to three weeks of rowdy demonstrations at the state Capitol in the spring that paralyzed Wisconsin's government as Senate Democrats fled to Illinois in an unsuccessful attempt to block a vote.

Yet the protest on Wednesday appeared to be unrelated. Earlier in the day, a statewide

student organization held what it calls an educational event on the opposite side of the Capitol on a new voter ID law that it says will make it harder for students to vote. The United Council of UW Students provided zombie makeup and T-shirts that read, "Students are as good as dead." One protester hollered at the Athletes,” Don’t p*ss on

My leg and tell me it’s raining.”

Way to go. Hope you Socialists are proud.

Funny how this wasn't splattered all over the news.  If conservatives had done this instead, can you imagine the media response?  If two conservatives alone had done this it would have been plastered everywhere, but a bus load of Union thugs, not newsworthy I guess.  It will make a great campaign video short for someone next Summer.

The protestors were college students not "union thugs".

I should have typed "Pro" before Union.  My mistake.  I've made errors but I will not resign.

Ruining an outing for the special olympics participants and their families was worse, by far.

Taking away somebody's right to vote because of who they are, who they might vote for (the young, the poor, the minorities typically vote Democratic), or just because you can worm your way through some legal loophole is never OK.

What the protesters did was no more despicable than ants at a picnic. What the Republicans are trying to do is throw a rigged deck into the game of politics to deny a basic civil right of those who might upset their control.

WISCONSIN ELECTION INFORMATION

Voter Registration Information

Identification Required for Registration

- a university, college or technical college fee card or I.D. card with photo, full name, and current address;

My student ID for an Alabama Jr. College only has the name of the school, the name I registered under (middle initial only), my picture, and expiration date. I couldn't use it to vote under Wisconsin's law because it lacks full name or current address.

I see where your priorities lie. Denying a basic civil right such as voting is no big deal, right?  I'm sure there will be legal challenges.

You haven't an inkling of a clue about where my priorities lie.  No one has been denied anything, except the olympians.

Good, then you won't be able to commit voter fraud.  Most Winsconsin university cards do!

Voter fraud is not a basic civil right.

The meme has been discredited.

Asked about the protest, Rachel Grant, a spokeswoman for Special Olympics, said the demonstration was peaceful.

"Nothing was disruptive at all," said Grant.

Kelly Kloepping, another Special Olympics official, said the protesters were respectful and did not diminish the excitement the Special Olympians felt about being in Madison to meet Walker and other leaders.

"We knew the protesters were there," Kloepping said, "but they were respectful of our athletes."

Christina Harris, the public relations manager for Special Olympics Wisconsin, has been quoted as telling reporters that the protesters were "very respectful" of the Special Olympians and their families.

"They didn't diminish the event," says Harris.

Let's emphasize these points:

1. This particular protest against Walker, according to the organizers of the event, was not disruptive.

2. This particular protest against Walker, according to the organizers of the event, was notable because of the respect that was shown for Special Olympians and their families.

3. This particular protest against Walker, according to the organizers of the event, did not in any sense diminish the gathering.

Not disruptive? Respectable? Didn't diminish?

You Libs can buy that crap all day long.

The Olympians were there for one thing. This was THEIR day. For them to engage in athletic games. It was disrupted by a bunch of low scum, promoting THEIR agenda. No respect to the athletes DAY.

And yes, it diminished. Instead of going home with memories of a special day, filled with fun and games, these athletes had to endure this type of political crap.

Stop blindly following Beck and Rush and use your own brain.  You can learn alot more by reading and listening than merely regurgitating what FoxNews told you to say.

Voter fraud is not a basic civil right.

You're right. Now let's get back to denying the right to vote to those who don't commit voter fraud, but just want to be good citizens and vote.

But, noooooo! They might vote the wrong way -- they might vote for Democrats. The Republicans can't have that.  So we hang all sorts of additional requirements as roadblocks for potential Democratic voters.

In a Republican's deluded mind, maybe wanting to vote for a Democrat is considered voter fraud. Maybe they think only votes for Republicans are considered legitimate.

Look how Republicans are running fake Democrats in the Wisconsin recall elections and are not trying to keep it secret. But that's not voter fraud (just barely) only because there is no legal prohibition against it.  We can talk about moral or ethical later.

"The Republican Party of Wisconsin admitted Monday that they planned to run candidates as Democrats in this summer's recall elections."

-----------

It's not what "You Libs" have to say about it. What did two Special Olympics officials and organizers of the event say about the protest?

Read this:

Kelly Kloepping, another Special Olympics official, said the protesters were respectful and did not diminish the excitement the Special Olympians felt about being in Madison to meet Walker and other leaders.

Did you read it? Did you see what Special Olympics themselves said?  Does it matter to you what they said? Or have you fabricated your own version of what happened and aren't going to be pulled off of it?

As usual, in high dudgeon about a made up condition.  Why would someone not have one of the several documents mentioned in the voting law.  And, why would they be Democrats.?  If they can't produce such documents, they still submit a provisional ballot, which will be counted when the person is proven to be a valid voter.

You protest too much!  Sounds like the jig is up and we'll find that the Democrats are cooking the vote.
