For all of you that don't know. Joe Pampinto is running for office in the City of Muscle Shoals.
The election is in 45 days. My husband used to work for Wise in the maintenance dept. He is a good man, hard-working and a man of faith. I have had to pick up another job to help make ends meet with gas being so high and all. My husband had to take a lower paying job elsewhere. It seems corporate greed trumps the well-being of others. There are some good people still at Wise and I wish them well, but you never know when the axe may fall again.
I wanted ya'll to see what kind of man Joe Pampinto is or has become. Money is not the only thing in the world.

I have never before written in on a forum, but this takes the cake. Below is the link to the Times Daily page that explains his job title. My husband used to work there too. He decribes Joe Pampinto as a pompous, arrogant person with Napoleonic Syndrome. His wife seems really nice though, but I'm not going to vote for him. I hope he does not come to my house asking for my vote. There's no telling how many people he has put on food stamps.

Times Daily ON The Move Page
Leave the man alone. He is doing the job he was hired to do at Wise. If he was not doing his job, they would find somebody who could. Maybe that is what the city of MS needs, somebody to come in and cut the waste out! Wise hires people to work for them. That is the difference between an employer and an employee! The employer offers a job as a privilige NOT as an entitlement!
Wise metal is just another example of Joe's arrogance. He is currently on the MS city council. I attended a recent meeting in which he complained about sending a police officer to the FBI academy. Only 1/2 of 1% of all law enforcement officers in the world get a chance to attend. As soon as the camera came on, he was a totally different person because he knew the council was going to fund. He bragged on the officer and how fortunate MS was that he was attending. There are many other examples of his arrogance and how much he is concerned about himself way above anyone else.

I don't know about Wise but I won't be voting for him either!
This is what the TD said:

Joe Pampinto has been promoted to vice president/general manager of manufacturing operations at Wise Alloys. He will have responsibility for all rolling, finishing, coating and packing operations. In addition, Tim Bennington has been promoted to director of finishing and coating operations in Sheffield, and Larry Highfield has been promoted to director of rolling operations.

In other words he's operations manager not general manager.
I heard he is the biggest Brown Nose there is.
This man is running for Mayor! He will represent our city.....Brown Nose Joe!!
That has a nice ring to it....Give me a break, he is a Joke. You can take up for him all you want, but there are some out here that know the truth, he is no Mayor. The race is alot like the presidential race not much to choose from but you need to pick the biggest walnuts there is and joe dosen't have them.
The very people that this man represents on the city council are the same people that lost heir jobs at Wise. He don't care about the people or Muscle Shoals. All he cares about is himself. He cost alot of good people their jobs. If he did his job correctly he would be able to find a way to keep people working. Costing people their job does not mean that he is doing his.
I hate to respond on this post, because I don't want to give him anymore attention. However, unfortunately, his opponent has underestimated him. I don't even remember the opponents name and I certainly haven't seen a sign.

That's what gets me about Joe, he has so many people snowed. They have no idea about him. He has a bad case of little man syndrome.

He has desired to be a life long politician since high school and has been running ever since. He is a sneaky son of a gun, and just plays the game better than most.

Come on Roland! Get in the game. At least put up a fight and make Joe and his daddy in law spend some money! I see a quick knock out coming....so though I am pulling for Roland, I wouldn't bet on him.
He was only doing as he was told by laying off employees. If any of you that are bashing him have ever been in a management position you would understand that sometimes you are asked to let people go that you may like or are even friends with! He was doing his job-plain & simple. I feel confident that he didn't just wake up one morning and decide to fire 100 people....

No, your right, Joe Pampinto did not wake up one morning and decide to get rid or 300 people. This was something he worked on for several weeks to make happen.
Brown nose Joe helped get rid of 300 jobs in Muscle Shoals to make his boss, David D'Addario, a wealthier man and her is how he did it. By outsourcing 300 jobs that belonged to the people of Muscle Shoals David D'Addario's company,TMC, now got most of the work that the people of Muscle Shoals had before they were fired. Now BROWN NOSE JOE pays his boss to do maintenance work. So who do you think that Joe cares more about, his boss or the citizens of Muscle Shoals?

A business is in existance to make money--not to provide jobs for any community.

If anyone thinks differenty, then why isn't the Florence Wagon Works still in business?

You are exactly right. The problem here is why would someone fire 300 people and replace their jobs with a contractor who also happens to be your boss?

If Brown Nose Joe will not stand for 300 employees, what makes you think he will stand for an entire city. Don't give me an excuse that it was a business deal and he had to do it.
That is what's wrong with the USA today, we blame layoffs and cutbacks on a "Good Business Deal." FREE TRADE AGREEMENT and does TJ's ring a bell. They say that it was a good business move, if you want to hide behind a decision that puts someone on the welfare line and say its a business deal then why is the value of our dollar much lower than other countries.
This effects everyone.
By the way, no one held a gun to Mr. Pampinto's head and forced him to get rid of the entire maintenance union workforce and replace them with a European engineering firms non union workforce.

He could have resigned and went and found another job like all those had to do he put out of work. It is a business decision but he's running to be a representative of the people of Muscle Shoals.

He has to stand by his record, you can't like the mafia just say "This is business".
For those who don't know, NAGD is similar to a local utility deptartment. I believe the late Mr. Jim Byrd was at one time the head of this organization. This is a lucrative business, so I infer Mr. Roland has more funding to run for this office than Mr. Pampinto. I would also imagine that Mr. Roland has himself let others go when it was deemed expedient to do so. I do not know either man, nor do I live in Muscle Shoals, but I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to find those who blame Mr. Roland personally for high natural gas prices. This would not make it so...

Exactly, FirenzeVeritas. No one ever will blame Pampinto for the price of aluminum. You also said that you IMAGINE that Mr. Roland let others go when it was deemed expedient to do so. I imagine that he never did that and if he did I'm sure he did not fire 300 people just to help his boss and not the company. What Joe Pampinto did to those people at Wise is just awful. Wise Alloys is not better off for it. His bosses pockets are fatter howerver but the company didn't gain a thing. Joe Pampinto is a horrible person!!!
ShagaPush, you will see this just one page back:

I had not read your post carefully. Okay, but the jobs don't necessarily belong to the people of Muscle Shoals. They belong to the company to give out.

If my company gives me a job, like you said, then that job belongs to me.

Someone like Joe Pampinto who would rather kiss up to his boss instead of represent the people of Muscle Shoals does not belong on the city council.

I agree. Just because you live in a certain city/town does not mean that you are entitled to work for a company just because they happen to have their business in the city that you live in.
