DeSantis said Biden is 'importing' COVID from around the world

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis blasted President Biden on Wednesday telling him to do his job and secure the southern border and not say "blip" about the coronavirus until he does.

"Why don’t you do your job?" the Florida Republican said during a press conference Wednesday. "Why don't you get this border secure? And until you do that, I don’t wanna hear a blip about COVID from you, thank you."

"This is a guy who ran for office saying he’s going to shut down the virus," DeSantis added. "And what has he done? He’s imported more virus from around the world by having a wide open southern border."

Biden has been widely criticized on social media over reports that illegal immigrants who are carrying the coronavirus are being released into border communities, in some cases without notifying local law enforcement.

The Biden administration has been pressed on the issue multiple times and has sidestepped the question as to why it is pushing Americans to be vaccinated while allowing unvaccinated and sick migrants into the United States.

Coronavirus cases among migrants have been surging at the southern border, and in one sector the number of infected migrants recently skyrocketed almost 900%.

DeSantis’ comment earned praise from conservatives on social media and his press secretary, Christina Pushaw, called the statement a "mic drop" moment.

"One of the only good ones," Fox News contributor Lisa Boothe tweeted. "Gov. DeSantis takes a massive wrecking ball to Biden's absurd criticism on his handling of COVID," Turning Point USA Chief Creative Officer Benny Johnson tweeted. "Watch the whole thing. COMPLETE. MIC. DROP."

DeSantis and the Biden administration have been engaged in a war of words in the last few weeks over the governor’s opposition to face mask mandates, and at one point White House press secretary Jen Psaki accused DeSantis of putting children "at risk" by not requiring them to wear masks in schools.

Earlier this week, Psaki referenced rising coronavirus cases in Florida and said that DeSantis is putting politics over public health.

DeSantis’ office took issue with that position and pushed back in a statement from Pushaw.

"By dismissively ignoring Governor DeSantis’ efforts to protect vulnerable Floridians, Psaki is the one playing politics with the pandemic," Pushaw told Fox News. "The White House should be more concerned about the flip-flopping of the CDC, which is inadvertently promoting vaccine hesitancy with their confusing, contradictory public communications. Stating that vaccinated people should wear masks and socially distance is implying that the vaccines do not change anything, which is the wrong message for our federal government to be promoting."

A whopping 500,000 illegal immigrants have crossed the southern border into the United States since Biden appointed Kamala Harris as the “border czar.”

According to the Washington Free Beacon, only three months have passed since Harris took on the responsibility and the half a million figure only refers to those who have been apprehended.

Let’s repeat that: we are only aware of 500,000 illegals who have been caught at the U.S.-Mexico border in the last three months.

Image how many got into the country that we do not know about.

President Joe Biden’s decision to make a joke at Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’s expense prompted the governor to in turn make a seemingly far more brutal joke at his expense.

The latest round of the two’s ongoing beef started Thursday when a reporter asked the president to respond to the governor’s fierce denunciation of him and his policies.

“Governor who?” the president snarkily replied, triggering a little laughter.

‘Governor Who?’ Biden’s nervous answer tells you who’s winning DeSantis vs. White House word war

The governor responded the following day by turning the joke against Biden.

“I guess I’m not surprised that Biden doesn’t remember me. I guess the question is what else has he forgotten?” he said while speaking at Chipola College, triggering what one could argue was more laughter than Biden had triggered.

The joke was a reference to Biden’s seemingly poor mental faculties.

But DeSantis didn’t stop there.

“Biden’s forgotten about the crisis on our southern border, I can tell you that. Biden has forgotten about the inflation that’s biting the budgets of families all throughout our country. Biden has forgotten about the demonstrators who were fighting for freedom down in Cuba, and Biden’s even forgotten about the Constitution itself, as we saw with what he did with this moratorium,” he continued.

“And I can just tell you, I’m the governor who protects parents and their ability to make the right choices for their kids’ education. I’m the governor who protects the jobs and education and businesses in Florida by not letting the federal government lock us down. I’m the governor who answers to the people of Florida, not to bureaucrats in Washington,” he added.

Listen:

Earlier in the week, renowned conservative radio show host and commentator Ben Shapiro argued that it’s this ability to fiercely but still professionally skewer his political opponents that makes DeSantis such a threat to the Democrat Party.

The problem with former President Donald Trump, Shapiro has long argued, is that he was temperamental and would easily lose his cool. This led to him frequently delivering rants so “offensive” that the alleged offense became the story instead of the usual 100 percent valid points he’d been trying to make.

The Florida governor’s verbal precision has allowed him to avoid this error while still excoriating his political opponents, from President Biden to even Dr. Anthony Fauci, the top-level administration health official who’s become a blatant political actor.

His latest feud with the administration stems from his refusal to abide by their draconian demands that he force his constituents to mask up, even if vaccinated.

His refusal to comply led to the president, Fauci, White House press secretary Jen Psaki, other administration officials, and their media allies all singling out Florida, as if coronavirus cases aren’t in fact surging throughout the entire country.

Fed-up with the trash-talking, he finally responded with a lengthy speech Wednesday in which he not only defended his policies but also blasted the administration’s policies.

“Joe Biden has taken to trying to single out Florida over COVID. This is a guy who ran for president saying he was going to ‘shut down the virus,’” he said.

Yet the president hasn’t “shut down the virus.” Instead, he’s essentially imported it into the United States by having “hundreds of thousands of people pouring across every month” from “over a hundred different countries,” the governor added.

“Not only are they letting them through, they’re then farming them out all across our communities, across this country, putting them on planes, putting them on buses. Do you think they’re being worried about COVID for that? Of course not,” he continued.

“So he’s facilitating who knows what new variants are out there. But I can tell you, whatever variants are around the world, they’re coming across that southern border. And so he’s not shutting down the virus; he’s helping to facilitate it in our country.”

The speech sent shockwaves through the political realm because it wasn’t just powerful but also factual and professional as well.

DeSantis to Biden in fiery rebuke: 'I don't want to hear a blip about COVID from you!

It was, in fact, this speech that Biden had been responding to when he asked, “Governor who?”

According to the public, the answer to that question is the governor who knocked his butt out cold and is likely to do so again in three years.

DeSantis needs to watch his back.  Dems are famous for inventing things about anyone getting to powerful, be it against them or sometimes even in their own party.  We have seen it many times.. Moore they went back 40 years in his life, where it would be impossible to defend.  Mo. gov. they came up with an affair.  During elections a couple of black republicans were getting successful and dems dug into their past and invented scum.  we have seen it several times. sadly republican voters with their morals fall for it.

DeSantis seems to be coming on strong, and is not afraid to tell off Joe Biden. I like that.

really uni,,,?   Biden, rescinded Trumps border closure,,, that is policy that opened borders wide open.    he has done nothing to close them. he is busing illegals all over the place.   The constitution says defend our borders.   at least try to show some intelligents

Really 1045? What policy did Biden rescind ? The 'Wall Funding'?  Allowed families to apply for asylum?

How about you do some research and try to sound 'intelligents' instead of just railing? You appear to be uninformed.

Do you think what's happening at the border is good for the USA?

Nope. I sure don't. But, when you don't deal with a problem and just pass the buck, someone has to deal with it... and sooner is always better than later.

Now, I'll ask again. What SPECIFIC Biden policy has 'opened our southern border?'

(I've asked 3 times... funny how not one of you can name one.. seeing as how you're all talking about it.)

the policy was illegals stayed in Mexico rather than being allowed to cross the border.  maybe you need to do research,, and stop blindly following.  Biden stopped the wall his first days, yes that was a policy.  he then stopped what Trump had done with not allowing them to enter and had Mexico working with us.  either way, democrats are picking which laws to obey.

So, an unfinished, barely standing wall was stopping immigrants? And about 70,000 asylum seekers were granted 'asylum status' in America instead of Mexico.
Sounds like you need to stop blindly following what Faux News Entertainment tells you and do your own research. America's southern border isn't 'open'.  You've been lied to by your 'conservative media'.

ok you are so far off,,, first you ask what policy, I answered now you divert.   yes the border is wide open , no one is being stopped, no I didn't get it from Fox news, I have friends and relatives close to the border. Asylum? 70,000? 1 mil plus have been allowed access.   you don't know **** about the border

As you quote Faux News Entertainment... the Border Patrol just put out new statistics and NPR had a brand new article, yesterday. Seems you just aren't capable of seeing the truth. Keep on spewing those alternate facts. The GOP is counting on you.

Officials in Laredo, Texas, have said they will no longer take in migrants who have crossed illegally into the United States and were being bused to the city from elsewhere along the U.S.-Mexico border after learning that 40 percent were testing positive for COVID-19. Two officials who spoke to the Washington Examiner said that the decision to deny access to the migrants was directly related to the high coronavirus positivity rate.

“This significant change increases the threat of COVID spread or other lawlessness within the city. At the beginning of July, the Respite Center saw an average of 750 people per day. That number, over the course of the month, escalated to over 1,100 people per day, and so far in August has surged to over 1,900 people per day,” said the statement.

“Since mid-February of 2021 there have been over 7,000 confirmed COVID-19 positive immigrants released into the city of McAllen by [Customs and Border Protection], including over 1,500 new cases in the past seven days,” city officials added.

don't know who quoted numbers,, however just a bit of thinking would inform you that letting people flow accross the border isn't good,.  interesting that there is talk of vax cards, not allowing interstate travel, monitoring people flying in and out, yet no control at border.

Ok. Sure. They're picking them up, testing them, and then just turning them loose in America. I'm sure that's it.

Letting churches and other organizations put the sick illegals up in hotels and motels, and leave them alone to wander around the city or leave and go to other cities isn't good either.  That needs to stop, but if you try to discuss it with a liberal you only get ignorant statements. They are so full of hatred for anyone that dares oppose them that they lie about them and would see the country over run by  illegal plague rats before they would admit there was a problem.

spoke to friend who puts up tents on the border for govt.  He has covid,  Not only they release them, they transport them to different areas in the USA.  But democrats want to close country except border.  There is hope, a judge has ruled against Biden policy and may reinstate Trumps stay in Mexico policy.

The dem plan is to keep the country shut down and keep the economy in a downward spiral. That way they can bring people to their knees, ruin the small businesses and keep the large, liberal friendly only, companies open.

As the Whitehouse begs Americans to get vaccinate... as the governor of Alabama begs people to get vaccinated... as even Congressional Republicans beg Americans to get vaccinated.... this is the ignorance perpetuated on the forums.... Common sense isn't so common, anymore.

7000, where did you get that number?   there are more than 7000 a day... besides the point was not that illegals are causing all the out breaks.  However that it doesn't make sense to close areas while the border is wide open.   yes the infection rate is lower in Mexico, and the vax rate is lower.   maybe vax isn't working?   Interesting none of media is talking about any immunity things to do.

From the article posted in this thread? Can you read? Just can't keep up? And the News Media talks about Covid numbers daily. Infection rates. Hospitalization rates. Deaths. Around 90-95% of the hospitalized are unvaccinated. Perhaps you should give up your conservative media, if they're not telling you the facts.

Coming to America? It looks like a bunch of young, healthy men that should be fighting for their country, coming to America most likely, no masks, another of Biden's Covid super spreading events that he will spread all over the country. Did they just leave the women and children, or did the US put them on another plane so the "men" would not be subjected to having to fly with lowly women????

Striking image shows around 640 Afghans, mostly men, packed on US military plane fleeing the Taliban in Kabul

That's all we need!!! MORE foreigners to support while they build bombs to blow us up!!!

"Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby said that up to 22,000 "at-risk" Afghans could be transported to three U.S. facilities in the coming weeks.

"Our aim at these three facilities would be over time, three to four weeks from now, be able to provide support for up to 22,000 at-risk individuals," Kirby said during a press briefing Monday. "We will not have that capacity immediately.  It will take some time to build it out."

expert? or expressing opinion?   at least not a sheep following MSM

don't have clue how to get USA citizens out of Afghanistan.   don't want to pay housing, medical, food, living expenses for immigrants.  especially when we talk about social security that people paid into all their life going broke. especially when we don't take care of those crippled fighting for our country or their families
