The Grinch may have stolen Christmas, but in Birmingham it was copper thieves who torched a Christmas tree in downtown's Linn Park.

The 35-foot tall Norwegian Spruce came from North Carolina and won't be replaced....

Glad there will be a replacement tree.

That's a pretty crappy story, but I was glad to read about the city pulling together to get another tree up.

I also heard on the news tonight that one of the elementary schools in the area delayed opening this morning because some thug stole copper from the heating unit. Frowner

I don't know about up there, but copper theft is definitely on the rise in the Birmingham area. They seem to target churches and schools. Pathetic.
