For the past three years one of my cousins has been happily married to a man she met pumping gas.
You never know......
I, too, think online sites can be a good way to meet people but be very cautious. If you want an idea of what can happen if you're not careful read Psycotic Letters from Men. http://psychoticlettersfrommen.blogspot.com/
Warning: The site can be a bit ...errrr... colorful in it's language. It's not for kids to read and you probably shouldn't read it at work. But it is very, very funny! And the comments are great.
Edited to say the site isn't all about dating sites but it does have a fair # of stories about them.

Women can write their fair share of psychotic letters as well.
Worst relationship I ever had, I met at a party. Best relationship, I met online. It's different for everyone, but there is nothing wrong with using the internet to find someone.

Yes, I know. The writer of that blog (a man, btw) has requested that his readers send some letters from women in. So far, I'm not sure he's received any.
I wish I saved a few of mine, I would have sent them in. Good site by the way, never heard of it but already read a few entries. Pretty funny stuff.
Yeah, the writer is really funny. Check out his other blog: http://whywomenhatemen.blogspot.com/ but definitely do not open that one at work or open it if you get offended easily. Well, not even easily. It's definitely graphic.
